As someone who spends my days talking to folks with all different backgrounds and perspectives, one of my goals in every moment is to be “a pleasure to disagree with.”
That’s really hard to do these days, so it helps to have people in my life I look up to for this. Like my friend Julie Pham, who models a calm, curious humility better than anyone I know. Or my bridge-building colleague Travis Tripodi, who never cuts corners in hearing me out or in unpacking his own, often totally opposite political views.
As for my husband, Jason Preston… let’s just say I lucked out having him to argue with for the rest of my life. ;)
